Japan is one of the most culturally diverse and unique countries in the world. This is the same country that has also brought out some of the latest breakthroughs in technology and providing the world with a standard of how we enjoy our electronics. Japan has also brought us the wonders of anime, along with being extraordinarily disciplined when it comes to studies and raising their youth. Japan has a rich culture that includes prosperous economies, wars, royalty, samurais, and other wonders that have filled the history books with the greatness of the country. Not to mention too that Japan is the hub of some of the most creative culinary inventions like sushi. That alone can prove that the culture is both brilliant and creative. Keep this in mind as you continue reading and watching this video.
Toy manufacturers typically have to keep a few things in mind when inventing toys. Usually they have to be appropriate for a certain age group and be both educational and entertaining. This should make us scratch our heads as we figure out just what was going on in the heads of the company executives when they approved production on these gloriously bizarre toys.
Japan has also come up with some pretty weird stuff. Bizarre and lighthearted inventions like “Hello, Kitty” and animatronic cat ears are amongst the odd things that come from a country of nobility and rich history. But then we have some really bizarre inventions that have come from Japan in the form of children’s toys. Some of the toys on this list are either truly terrifying that can ruin any childhood, or they are so disgusting that you have to wonder whether they are teaching our children healthy relationships with bodily fluids.
Japanese products are known to be brightly colored and expressive, very reflective of the culture. This is something that Americans aren’t quite used to, which makes Japan’s products even weirder. If you’ve observed the culture in the last 20 years, they have taken an interesting turn in entertainment and media that juxtaposes their history. It seems as though as Japan is trying to be less serious and more fun these days. Perhaps it’s to balance out the serious and strict nature of their academic studies and work environments? Or maybe these toy manufacturers are trying to expose the children to disturbing materials so that they aren’t phased when face with bad things in life? Like, when are you ever going to feed a terrifying square face your money? And what is that training you for? The world may never know.
But one thing is certain is that Japan is certainly scarring a new generation of kids with their bizarre toys. If these toys are selling so well in the country, one has to wonder what these kids are exposed to on a daily basis. From playing with roadkill cats to microwaving babies, you would think that these toy manufacturers are trying to raise up the next generation of serial killers and necromancers.
