The Easter Bunny is just around the corner. Whether they’re hopped up on their carotene fix, having their floppy ears scratched or humping the day away, bunnies are fricken’ awesome! Cute as heck too! But there’s only so much Flopsy and Mopsy can do before it’s up to their digital brethren to take centre stage. Let’s hop into our top five video game bunnies.
5. Mamma – Re-Loaded
Okay, so technically speaking, Mamma isn’t an actual bunny rabbit. But if he’s happy dressed as a four-hundred pound blue bun-bun, why ruin the fun for him? Or her? Or it? Whatever it is. A perfect blend of cuddly cutesiness and a psycho on a blood-thirsty rampage, you just can’t help but love the guy. Or thing. Goddamn, that’s creepy.
4. Ash – Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit
Zombie bunny? Check. Fire and brimstone? Check. Giant doughnut sawblade thingy to mow down everything in his path? Checkeroo! Dead bunnies are no laughing matter. But we’re all for the prince of Hell reaping merry revenge for leaked images of him playing with his rubber ducky in the tub. Ash makes sure to do it in style, too!
3. Rabbids – Rabbids series
While it’d be impossible to nail down a single favourite Rabbid, this twisted species as a whole are awesome enough for this list. Rabbid by name, rabbit by nature. Once peaceful creatures of the Glade of Dreams, years of torment turned these bouncy bundles of fluffy joy into bouncing bombs of insanity. And that face. Oh, that face!
2. Jazz Jackrabbit – Jazz Jackrabbit series
He’s mean, he’s lean and for some reason he’s unconventionally green. Jazz Jackrabbit is the Rambo of the bunny universe, and he hates folklore! Especially the one about the tortoise and the hare. Jazz is looking to prove once and for all that ‘Slow and steady wins the race’ means squat when you’ve a laser gun in your grip.
1. Peppy Hare – Star Fox series
Don’t let the name deceive you. Old Mr Peppy Hare is a bonafide bunny, and you’d better believe it. Mentor, philosopher, and with more famous quotes under his belt than a cheesy infomercial, Peppy is one of gaming’s most unsung heroes. If any bunny deserves a two storey, diamond-studded hutch, it’s Peppy. Did someone say ‘barrel roll’?
